My Cant-Help-It-But-Buy-Books Book Haul (February to April Book Haul)

Uhhhmmm, so here’s another book haul! Nothing new. If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a long time now you already probably know that I have this book buying problem. I really love book sales so when there’s one near my place and if my schedule permits I always make sure to go visit one.

ROADTRIP

The first set of books are from local second hand bookstores. Thank you Book Sale and Chapters and Pages. 🙂 I was lucky enough to find a first edition copy of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I only bought it P50 ($1)! And despite not reading any of Agatha Christie’s books, I know her autobiography will come handy soon. 🙂

The second set came from National Bookstore, one of the leading bookstores here in the Philippines. They had this sale sometime around March. The books are ex-library hardbound copies in good condition and since I am near four National Bookstores, I guess you already know what I did next. 😉 I scoured all the branches near me and below is the result. I am really very happy with the books that I got because these titles are all in my wishlist!

Aside from The Red Queen and Glass Sword which I bought brand new for Victoria Aveyard’s book signing event last March, the last set are the books that I bought from online sellers. I’ve been meaning to get my hands on these books so when I saw them online I couldn’t pass it out. I tried browsing Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick after I bought because I bought it on a whim without actually no idea what it is about. I got curious because it was so thick and lo and behold it’s like 70% illustrations! I am really excited to start it soon. I am also excited with A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas because I did enjoy her Throne of Glass.

And lastly, in my bid to really explore the classics, I bought this compendium that contains 13 short novels. I’m still not sure what to read first so I am oping you cuold help me with that one. 🙂

  2. Okay wow. This is definitely an impressive book haul. Book sales are definitely a readers treat but my purses nightmare haha. I absolute love some of the books in this haul. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is beautifully written and the character development is on point. I’ve still not read a Sarah J. Maas book yet. The hype is intimidating. 😛

    1. The phrase “my purse’s nigghtmare” is totally true. 😀 But still, even if how many times I tell myself to avoid going to bookstores, the bookstores seem to have magnets. I just can’t help it. 😀
      I was not disappointed when I read Throne of Glass. I read it with high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. 🙂

  4. Wow, that’s some tower of books you have there. Nice going! The short novel compendium looks great. I’d be tempted to read them in chronological order to see if there’s any influence of earlier works on the later ones, but pulling a name out of a hat is probably just as good a way of choosing! 🙂

  5. Great collection of books!! In the collection of short novels, I recommend you read Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Fascinating and thoughtful read. Enjoy the reading! (I can totally relate with the desire to purchase lots of books lol!) -Matt 🙂

  7. I recognize many of those titles on my to-read shelf. I, too, have an addiction to used book sales. Rather spend several hours browsing book sales instead of doing just about anything else (except hiking).

  8. Hey believe it or not, I just started reading. The first book that I just finished is PC’s The Alchemist. Any advise on what book should I read next? I feel like the second book should be as memorable as the first one… Thanks

    1. You can read Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz or Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys. Those are just some of the best books that I read that I guess you’ll enjoy. 🙂
